Dear #WomenInSTEM, please send help: my 6yo just told us that someone at school today said that “girls are not good at science” and what is worse, she seems to be taking it seriously! Will you please tell her about the amazing things you know and do?

Bessie Coleman was an American civil aviator. She was the first woman of African-American descent, and the first of Native American descent, to hold a pilot license. She achieved her international pilot license in 1921. #WomenInSTEM

Protip for authors: Refer to an anonymous referee in gender neutral terms, like "they." Not just because it's the right thing to do. Also because if the referee is female, she might not be as receptive to your arguments otherwise. #WomenInSTEM
