#DDay75: 75 years ago the fighting for Caen was intensifying. These men of the 2/Royal Warwickshire Regiment are seen advancing throught the fields on the outskirts of Caen. It is often forgotten that infantry casualties in Normandy were as high as #WW1.

In June, 78 years ago, the first production model of the Churchill tank rolled off the production lines. The #Churchill was developed to fight under similar conditions experienced during WW1, and despite initial problems with the design, performed well in later stages of #WW2.

My great-grandfather Mustafa, left, member of Austro-Hungarian Army. POW in Italy during WW1 where he learned Italian. In WW2, the Italian army wanted to burn down his village due to Partisan cooperation. He spoke to them in Italian and managed to save the village.
