If you aren’t familiar with United 93, I encourage you to read. Ordinary people stood up against terrorists, knowing they would almost certainly perish in order to save the lives of fellow Americans they didn’t know. Ask yourself, would you do the same?

Today, as we remember the tragic events of 9/11, I'd like to encourage you to watch United 93. Not from an entertainment perspective, mind you, but as a way of remembering the bravery of the passengers who sacrificed their lives to defend our nation and stand against terrorism.

9/11 is about mourning the murdered (not the "lost") AND about celebrating the remarkable courage of... - First responders who ran INTO the fire - Warriors who hunted down & killed those jihadi bastards - United 93 passengers who chose to go out fighting - Normal Americans

A #September11 story I was unaware of before today: Heather “Lucky” Penney was an F-16 pilot at Andrews AFB that day. After the #TwinTowers and #Pentagon  were hit, she flew to intercept #United93, taking off w/o any weapons on a kamikaze mission. Ice in those veins — what a hero!

I get super annoyed when people celebrate a random date on the calendar like a holiday just because it was used in a movie. Like, I get it, you're a big fan of the 2006 film United 93, let's move on...

United 93 is the closest thing you can get to experiencing the horror and devastation of that day. It unfolds before us like it’s happening in present tense. You react the same time everyone else does. I still think it sets the bar on how to do a real tragedy w/o exploitation.

Todd Beamer was a passenger on United 93. What happened was verified by the telephone supervisor with whom he spoke. They recited the Lord’s Prayer together. He then said his timeless words: "God help me. Jesus help me. Are you ready? Let’s roll!"

I still think United 93 is the best movie of the century. It allowed us to relive the tragedy viscerally, a vital step in healing from trauma. Thrilling cinema even without context, United 93 used the collective experience of the movies for the noblest purpose.

On 9/11 2001, My mom changed her flight last minute to one that was an hour later. If she hadnt changed it, she would have been on United 93. Sometimes, Its OK to sleep in
