A reminder to whoever needs to hear it, esp those students that did not win 1st or 2nd at #Entsoc19: 1) it does not mean you are not a capable researcher, 2) it does not mean you do bad science, and 3) it does not mean you won't be successfuI in your career. I am living proof.

It was an honor to be in the same room with 15 of the 20 @EntSocAmerica presidents I have worked with since I first started this job in 2000 (and 3 of our future presidents). Thank you for your service #EntSoc19. This Society is great today because of you

Reflections on Insect decline in the Anthropocene at #EntSoc19. Thread 1 of 4. 1. All the data points the same direction, insects are declining rapidly. No one knows at what stage this will lead to ecosystem collapse, but the risk gets higher each year.

#entsoc19 Please send me your recommendations for awesome women/URM entomologists who have not (and should) be elected to ESA fellow. I’m coordinating with my new department chair to make sure there is more diversity in nominations going forward.

Hi #EntSoc19 , Mars scientist here. We're looking for life on Mars too but haven't found it. I'm certain that no one in your community has either. That's why I'm disappointed you gave this abstract a poster. Bad for your community & science in general. https:// esa.confex.com/esa/2019/meeti ngapp.cgi/Paper/147473   …

My amazing REU student @megarhyssamar won the award for best student presentation for her session at #EntSoc19! Marissa presented on the use of UCEs to understand the evolution and biogeography of a cool lineage of parasitic wasps. Couldn’t be prouder!

Hi #EntSoc19, if you want to know about spiders color polymorphism and how gene flow through barriers could promoted, go and see my work tomorrow (19/11) in the #BugsinTechnicolor symposium, Room 230 at 13:45. Sadly, I can't be there, but the great @melsanc will be presenting.
