Rejections are tough, but one after 331 days... I've moved on to (too many) other projects. I don't know how to summon the energy to go back and deal with this now. Feeling drained... @AcademicChatter #AcademicTwitter

Important things that grad school has taught me: -Finding solutions for my problems -Getting used to criticism -Being independent -Learning how to find answers on my own -Asking for guidance (when totally lost) -Motivating myself #phdchat #AcademicChatter

Honest thesis chapter titles: • Here’s what I said I was going to do • Here's what actually happened • Here's why it all went wrong • Here's what's next (but I'm probably not going to do it) @AcademicChatter #phdchat

Second Law of Academics: At a given point of time, a paper must be either the burden of  authors or reviewers, but not both nor neither. #AcademicChatter

friendly reminder for any lecturing faculty out there making powerpoint slides: if the text isn't ridiculously large, it's too small @AcademicChatter #AcademicTwitter

I suggest we have a post-doc/industry career "draft", similar to the NFL draft, where people graduating with PhD's get all the flashing lights, swag, and national media attention. It'll be on PBS, of course. #AcademicTwitter #AcademicChatter #phdchat

I’m jealous of ppl who respond to crushing stress with productive hobbies.Oh you bake gourmet cakes? And you knit beauotful blankets? I curl up into a ball and hide under a blanket after eating everything in my pantry. Add on a few days with 0 sleep for funsies. #academicchatter

What's the five word version of your PhD thesis title (past or forseen)? Me would be: Is this squiggly line real? @AcademicChatter #phdchat

Last week I said goodbye to my faithful spaniel Coco. She was a huge part of my PhD. Sat at my feet whilst I wrote, gave me a nudge to take a break and get some air and listened whilst I practiced for my viva. Sleep well old girl @AcademicChatter #phdlife

Lab members play an important part of your lab life. If you have cool lab mates, life becomes a lot easier. Cheers to all those wonderful lab mates who were always there to help and guide! @AcademicChatter #AcademicTwitter

I wrote about doing union organizing in academia. I don't have much of a platform (been adjuncting too much to build one of those) so I would really appreciate the boost. #AcademicTwitter #AcademicChatter https:// medium.com/@maggiewrites/ this-is-your-fight-a15499d27069   …

Why do people use two spaces after a period in MS Word? It drives me nuts. 2 spaces were for typewriters since they use monospaced typesetting. Word processing tools (e.g., MS Word) automatically adjust spaces after periods. #WeekendRant #AcademicTwitter #AcademicChatter

I am considering putting a book together about problems that women face in STEM fields in graduate school. If you have a story or objective problem of your own or a friend, consider sharing in a comment or a DM. I will keep private. #AcademicChatter #OpenAcademics

As a woman in science, I always do a silent cheer when I see a woman's name as the lead author on an academic paper (especially if it was written 20+ years ago). Then I frequently discover it was just written by a man with the first name Lynn. #AcademicChatter

Hey @AcademicChatter Have you ever attended a conference that included #pronouns on name tags? If so, how was this done (i.e. stickers, printed directly on tag...?) #AcademicTwitter

Grad students — how do y’all deal w being chronically tired?? I sleep 7-8 hours a night and exercise, and I still can barely pull myself through an 8-hour day (with coffee!). @AcademicChatter
